Oceandriver...I disagree with you when you say that gay or bi people and activity are "not natural" and it only comes from a over-active sex drive or abuse as a child. Nonsense! Despite what you say, your explanation is NOT true. People are bi or gay or straight because that's the way we are. It makes me wonder why you are gay. Again, what you say is not true nor is your profile where you say that you are open-minded.

There were always many bi-sexuals and gays in the world but until the past decade it was taboo to even think about it less be open about it. Today sex is a more open subject and so is experimenting with your sexuality. Communities such as this site are more prevelent and easy to find. The internet has openned up a whole new world for many who are bi curious, gay or bisexual to experiment and find out the path they would like to take. It is easier to find like people and not feel like an outcast. It is our nature to be inquisitive. So lets have fun learning.

So your question of why there are so many isn't really the question. The question could be why do we not acknowledge our true nature is love and to express sex with other human beings is the normal thing to do.

Sex is natural, harmless, guiltless, free of shame. It is a society's chosen constructs that bring about the current apparent majority view on sexuality we have today.

The normal perfect expression of sexuality is to have sex.

The ancient Greeks and Romans enjoyed sex from the moment a child expressed a desire. The parents would enjoy sex teaching their children. A girls first experience was usually with her Father and a boy with his Mother. It was also the norm for sexual expressions with the same sex too. A boys experiences tended to be with men before women, same with a girls.

This is also the case in pre-white Pacific Islander populations. And with the majority of Native American nations prior to the European invasion.

All of this has been well documented, but highly surpressed and filtered, and is not typically taught correctly today.

The same with animals. Recently the Bonobo apes, which are the very closest to us DNA wise - more than any other mammal, have been reported greater than ever before. Bonobo's have sex with each other all of the time, almost constantly, and that is same sex, between parent and offsprings, between siblings, and they are noted for being the most peaceful and content society.

Unlike many other ape populations, particularly Chimpanzees, which we are most often compared to in an attempt to misdirect our understanding away from the sexual nature of our closet ape relative.

Dolphins have long been observed to be bisexual and behave very similarly to Bonobos. However there have also been reports from biologists about non-consensual sex between pods.

Our current dysfunctional view of sex is religious dogma based. It has caused more harm and tragedy, violence, illness, and the list goes on, all because of some ancient old men around 350AD that decided suppressing sex would give them greater powers and influence.

This too is well documented and known but not taught.

What we do teach is incorrect and perpetuates the dysfunction.

Spazzcat, the true answer to your question is that the sexual drive is so intents with people that it must be fullfilled. So they turn to that which is not natural and it gives a pleasure unexpected and then it is had to controll the drive thus they persue the drive and pleasure. This even to the point of hurting a marriage. Of coure some go with gay or by due to things that happened to them while they where young or bad relationship cause spme to seek oppisit sex hoping for better treatment. Spazzcat i hope this has help you to understand the true of the matter.

i feel there are so many gay and bi people because we have learned to overlook the stigmatta of the lifestyle and learned to love our fellow man whether its a man or a woman or both and we can now enjoy the way it should have been all along people being free from your or anyones persicution for expanding there minds and enjoying the simplest and best pleasures in life in simpler words we just dont care what anyone else thinks because our sex life isnt about anyone but we who enjoy what we enjoy and not about your rules and regulations any more we have opened our minds and hearts without fear try it you may like it!!!

I think its because society in general is becoming more accepting of bisexual and homosexuality. I think its been around in probably the same kinds of numbers it is today for a very long time, it just has not been opening accepted to the degree it is today, especially in the U.S. As someone who grew up hetero and lived that way exclusively until my late 30s, it came as a real surprise when I began to notice I an interest in other men about 10 years ago. And it came as a bigger surprise, when I finally acted on that, how much I enjoy sex with other men. I think we are still a society in the U.S. where that is far more accepted among women than men, but its getting better, and it isn't going to stop me from continuing my bisexual encounters.
